Vote for Huntington, Young Professionals Holiday Party

Dec. 15: 5 things you need to know today.

1. Today is the last day to vote for the "Best of Long Island 2011" for Best (Huntington), Best Downtown Area (Huntington Village) and Best Annual Event/Festival (Long Island Fall Festival). Register to vote and show your support.

2. Local science fiction author Ian Fydell will be at the  at 7 p.m., where he will be speaking about and signing his new book "Breathing Space: Book One of the Exodus Trilogy."

3. The Island Senior Orchestra Chamber Duo will entertain children of all ages with a holiday concert today from 1-2 p.m. at the . Enjoy singing along to your favorite holiday tunes. Also includes a demonstration of trumpet, saxophone, clarinet, flute and piccolo and the sounds that each instrument makes.

4. The  Young Professionals Business Blender & Holiday Party takes place tonight from 6-8 p.m. at the Huntington Elks Club. Admission to the event is one unwrapped toy, which will be donated to the Guardian Brain Foundation. The Elks Club will be providing complimentary appetizers and drink specials.
