Tell Us: Gun Buy-Backs Effective?

Are buy-backs effective in reducing gun violence?

Illegal gun possession presents a constant problem for law enforcement as evidenced by repeating arrests seen in Suffolk County Police blotters in Huntington Station.

Suffolk County has held gun buy back programs in the past as a way of incentivizing the peaceful surrender of illegal firearms and, just this week, Nassau County purchased 330 illegal guns during a buy back program. The buy-back yielded nearly 200 handguns, 15 assault rifles, seven sawed-off shotguns and two semi-automatic handguns.

The question we pose is this: Do you think these programs work? Do they make a difference, or only serve to remove a small portion of the illegal guns on the street?

Shouldn't the hosts determine whether or not it is worth it? I think if even one gun is surrendered that it is worth tge effort.
