Man Walks to Smithtown Job in Blizzard

Huntington resident made it to hospital morning shift Saturday after a walk that started Friday night.

Would you have walked to work during the blizzard? Huntington resident and St. Catherine of Siena Medical Center employee Manoj Hans did.

Unable to get his car through unplowed streets Hans walked 10 miles to the Smithtown medical center, leaving his house at 10:30 p.m. Friday to make it to his 7 a.m. shift on Saturday.

Hans’ trip was interrupted by a Suffolk County Police officer at 12:30 a.m. Saturday with an offer of a ride. After being driven for a few miles by the officer Hans started to walk again and made it to St. Catherine’s at 4:15 a.m.
