Fanny Brice and Flowers
The Nathan Hale Garden Club had its flower show at a home once owned by actress-comedian  Fanny Brice. Helping to mark the event, the Halesite Fire Department brought along a fire truck that had helped put out a fire in 1935 at the screen legend's home.

Town Debuts New Website
The Town of Huntington has launched a new website, offering an up-to-date look and functionality and a range of new features. It went into use Monday morning, replacing the older version that had been relatively unchanged since at least 1999.

Voters Pass School Budgets, Pick Trustees
Voters in the South Huntington and Huntington school districts approved their respective budgets Tuesday. South Huntington trustees Nick Ciappetta and Laura Carey were re-elected. In Huntington, Bari Fehrs was elected, while William Dwyer  will return to the board, with an 11-vote margin over Deniqua Crichlow.

New Chamber Chairman Installed
Larry Kushnick was installed as the chairman of the Huntington Township Chamber of Commerce.  He is the founder of Kushnick Pallaci PLLC.

Huntington Hospital Offers 3-D Mammography
State-of-the-art mammography equipment representing a prodigious stride in the fight against breast cancer is available at Huntington Hospital. 3D Breast Tomosynthesis, acquired by the hospital in February, provides an image which can be manipulated and viewed from different angles.

Audit Recommends Changes in Town Record-Keeping
The state audit of the Town of Huntington faulted record keeping by some departments. The audit, which was released by the town late Friday afternoon, made nine recommendations, mostly dealing with two main issues: accuracy in recording the hours worked by employees, including supervisors' overtime, and billing by outside, contracted attorneys.
