Labor Day weekend is officially here, so we shared a few tips to make your weekend something to remember.

Fire Island

The power has finally been restored to the south shore island after last weekend's mess of a hurricane, and there isn't a better time to hit Fire Island than Labor Day.

Whether you've been there before or not, there are plenty of things to do. You can get on a boat, fish, sail, surf or swim.

There are also a number of great restaurants and bar on the island where you can enjoy one of the last summer weekends left!

Quiksilver Pro

The Quiksilver Pro New York surfing competition has been in limbo since Irene hit the shores of Long Island. While the festival portion of the event is , residents will have the opportunity to watch world-class surfers tear up the shores of Long Beach all day Monday when the competition gets underway.

Labor Day Weekend at the American Airpower Museum at Republic Airport

The American Airpower Museum at Republic Airport, located 1230 New Highway in Farmingdale, will be celebrating Labor Day all weekend.

Saturday through Monday, from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., resident can come for activities that salute our military heritage including a Tuskegee Airmen Remembrance flight, Corsair fighters that pay tribute to 100 years of American Naval Aviation, a C-47 Airborne “assault” and an armor parade that salutes those American GIs who rolled across France during the summer of 1944.

The event is $15 for adults, $10 for seniors and veterans, and $5 for children.

Olde Time Music Weekend

The event will take place on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 3-4, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Listen to popular music of the Civil War period at the Old Bethpage Village Restoration, located at 1303 Round Swamp Road in Old Bethpage. Visitors can learn traditional 1800s contra-dancing and listen to the sounds of a brass military band.

The event is $10 for adults and $7 for children ages 5-12.

Malverne Picnic

The Malverne Civic Association is hosting a picnic on Labor Day. The festivities start at noon at Whelan Field off Ocean Avenue in Malverne. You bring the food, drinks, chairs, blankets or tent and they'll provide the venue, live music and games.

The annual Seaford Fall Festival, kicks off Saturday and runs through Labor Day from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. This holiday weekend event, which is sponsored by the , features hundreds of vendors with an array of arts and crafts, gift items, antiques and food.

Long Island Children's Museum: Messy Afternoons

Enjoy a family walk-through of the exhibition with supervised craft activities. There are special family guides of the main exhibition available in the galleries. The Nassau County Museum of Art, located at 1 Museum Dr., Roslyn Harbor, is open Sunday 1-3 p.m. Closed Labor Day.
