LIRR Adds Extra Trains
Port Jefferson line to have 3 more LI-bound trains on Thursday, Friday.
Rail passengers will have extra trains to choose from on Thursday and Friday as they head home to Long Island.
The Long Island Rail Road will add 14 trains overall, including three on the Port Jefferson branch. The extra trains, leaving between 12:43 p.m. and 3:40 p.m., are:
- 2:10 p.m., stopping at Jamaica, Carle Place, then all stops to Huntington
- 2:29 p.m., stopping at Forest Hills, Kew Gardens, Jamaica, New Hyde Park, then all stops to Huntington
- 3:24 p.m., stopping at Jamaica, Mineola, Westbury, Hicksville
Parents traveling with children will also get a break. The family fare program will be in effect through the weekend. Up to four children ages 5-11 can ride weekend off peak trains for the advance purchase fare of 75-cents per child each way when accompanied by a fare-paying parent or guardian. Weekly and monthly ticket holders just pay for the kids. Children under 5 ride free on the LIRR.
