Huntington Has History

April 6: 5 Things You Need to Know Today

As you know, Huntington is steeped in history. But for you history aficionados, do you know what year Huntington was formally recognized as a town? Answer will be provided tomorrow morning. The first correct respondent gets a shout out.

In the meantime, here is the rundown of some great events happening in Huntington today:

1. Baby story time will be held today at the , from 11 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The event at the Youth Program Room is for babies (ages 36 to 47 months) with a parent or caregiver (no siblings). Registration is required.

2. Preparing to write the Great American Novel? Who isn't? But if you need help, then stop by the Huntington Station this evening at 6:30 p.m. Author Marissa La Rocca will lead a series of writer workshops, in which she will encourage writers to incorporate guided imagery and other exercises into their poetry, short stories and other written works.

3. Got lax? The boys lacrosse team travels to Sachem North this afternoon for a 5 p.m. faceoff.

4. The documentary “Phil Ochs: There But For Fortune,” about folk singer and activist Phil Ochs, is on tap at at 7:30 p.m. Sonny Ochs, sister of Phil Ochs, will speak. The event is co-presented by the Folk Music Society of Huntington. Tickets are $9 for members, $13 for the general public (includes a reception).
5. The South Huntington SEPTA meets tonight at 7:30 at 60 Weston St.
