Food Collection at Holiday Parade
Residents asked to donate during festivities to help resupply food pantry.
Food barrels to help resupply food pantries will be set out along the route of the holiday parade Saturday.
Councilwoman Susan Berland said, "I am proud to sponsor a food drive to help replenish the depleted supplies of the Huntington Food Pantry during our Thanksgiving parade scheduled for this Saturday. By donating cans of foods and
non-perishable food items, our residents can honor the spirit of the
holidays by giving to others in need."
Some food pantries helped supply food to warming centers used by residents who were out of power because of Hurricane Sandy and the nor'easter that hit a week later.

The parade steps off Saturday at 7 p.m., heading north on New York Avenue to Main Street.
Barrels will be placed along New York Avenue and Wall Street to collect donations.
