Dine Huntington: Vitae Restaurant & Wine Bar

Patch profiles restaurants as Dine Huntington Week approaches.

Dine Huntington Week starts Sunday, with 55 restaurants offering a three-course fixed-price menu.

Starting with , Huntington Patch is highlighting several of the restaurants, their menus, their owners or chefs, for those looking to explore new places in town. Restaurants from Cold Spring Harbor to Commack and throughout the town are participating, as is Syosset’s 516 American Kitchen.

The event runs through Oct.16.  Note that a few choices will cost a bit more but in general, the prices are set at $24.95.

This restaurant opened in March in the 1841 building that formerly housed the Abel Conklin’s restaurant on New Street.

Menu: Among the week’s entrees are sole meuniere and pan-roasted Berkshire pork chop; appetizers include Mussels Vitae or Maryland crab cakes,  and desserts of coconut cream bread pudding or New York Style cheesecake.

Features: Live music, dancing and happy hours.

Wine: It offers more than 100 wine selections from around the world, with 25 available by the glass. The floor-to-ceiling wine room, encased in glass with brushed chrome racks, showcases the 1,400-bottle inventory.

Design: Walls are covered in soft and textured metallic shades of bronze, copper and gold. Art is provided by Long Islander collector Dean Johnson  And there’s a large Venetian-style floral in oil hangs in the dining room. A patio is open in the warm weather. The building has been completely renovated since Vitae moved in, modernizing design in the dining room and lounge as well as changing over the kitchen and restrooms.
