Cooper's Inside Look at Democratic Convention

Former legislator shares experiences as Democrats gather to renominate the president.

Huntington is well represented at the Democratic National Convention this week in Charlotte, N.C.

An enthusiastic of the Suffolk County Legislature, is commenting and sending pictures back to Huntington Patch.

Tuesday:

Tammy Baldwin, soon to be the first LGBT person elected to the U.S. Senate, spoke before an overflow crowd at this morning's LGBT caucus meeting. What an amazing candidate she is!!

Alan Krueger, chairman of the President's Council of Economic Advisors, addressed the first meeting ever of the DNC's Small Business Council earlier today. He pointed out that we've had 29 months in a row of private sector job growth, and that Congress has enacted 18 tax cuts for small business. By the way, so many small business owners wanted to attend this meeting, they had to move it to a larger room!

Jim Messina, President Obama's campaign manager, gave a terrific presentation today on the latest status of the campaign. Things are looking good, but to quote Jim, "we need to keep our nose to the grindstone, put the pedal to the metal" for the remaining 63 days until November 6th!

Monday:

The convention activities are well underway - I'm going downstairs to check out the high school marching band!

Just arrived at my hotel, directly across the street from the Charlotte Convention Center. Beautiful weather - sure beats the tropical storm that threatened Tampa!
