Backup On Jericho Turnpike
Accident, overheated vehicle and blocked street slow traffic on Jericho.
Jericho Turnpike was extra busy late Friday afternoon, with the usual rush hour traffic, a fender-bender on East Jericho Turnpike, and an overheated SUV just west of Pidgeon Hill Road. That road was closed off most of the day, with Suffolk County police cruisers blocking access as Verizon crews were at work.
The police and Verizon trucks packed up about 6 p.m. and the road reopened.
