A Dix Hills woman is one of 20 defendants who are alleged to have been involved in recruiting European women to illegally enter and work in the United States as strippers.

Two SUVs collided on Plainview Road Tuesday morning, sending one of the vehicles careening into a nearby home. Plainview firefighters responded to the crash just after 9:30 a.m. Tuesday on Plainview Road near Cynthia Drive. They discovered the driver of one of the vehicles trapped inside the crumpled wreck. Firefighters used the "Jaws of Life" to free the trapped victim, who was then transported to a local hospital, firefighters said.
