Lupinacci: Put Our Children Before Politics
Assemblyman Chad Lupinacci (R,C,WF,I-Huntington Station) and members of the Assembly Republican Conference recently unveiled their new website, ‘Children Before Politics.’ The site provides parents, educators and administrators with the conference’s proposal to delay Common Core testing, restore education cuts and reform the Board of Regents selection process.
“As an educator and former school board member, providing a high-quality education is my main focus,” said Lupinacci. “Preparing our kids for a successful future is one of our most important tasks as legislators. The failed implementation of Common Core testing standards highlights the need for comprehensive reform of all areas of the education system.”

In January, members of the Assembly Republican Conference unveiled their education report, “At the Educational Crossroads,” as well as their reform proposal, known as the APPLE Plan. Lupinacci and his colleagues hosted a series of 13 forums across the state to gather feedback from students, parents, educators and administrators about Common Core and New York’s education system. The report can be viewed at: bit.ly/educationalcrossroads and the APPLE plan is available on the ‘Children Before Politics’ site.

“Our local educators and administrators have been invaluable during this process, and I look forward to working with them to improve our state’s education system,” concluded Lupinacci.
The website includes a link to a petition that Lupinacci and his colleagues created to garner support for their plan. Those wishing to sign the petition are encouraged to visit www.childrenbeforepolitics.com.
