Lupinacci Encourages Residents To Take Part In “I Love My Park Day” at Walt Whitman Birthplace State Historic Site

Assemblyman Chad Lupinacci (R,C,WF,I-Huntington Station) today is encouraging local residents to take part in “I Love My Park Day” this Saturday, May 3. The event, hosted at parks across New York, promotes state parks while bringing in volunteers to help beautify the parks before the busy summer months. In the 10th Assembly District, the Walt Whitman Birthplace Historic Site will be open for volunteers to help prepare the site before the summer tourism season.

“Our state parks are among the most precious resources in our state, and they provide thousands of visitors with education and recreation each summer,” said Lupinacci. “However, because of increasing fiscal constrains these parks need a little boost each year, and that’s where our wonderful volunteers come in. ‘I Love My Park Day’ is a great opportunity to give back to places that mean so much to our community, and the Walt Whitman Birthplace Historic Site certainly fits that bill. I look forward to seeing the site on Saturday and returning to enjoy it again and again throughout the summer.”

“What better way to enjoy the outdoors this Saturday than spending a day with your family, friends and neighbors and helping to clean-up your favorite park or historic site,” said State Parks Commissioner Rose Harvey. “Each year it is inspiring to see the dedication from so many of our visitors as they participate in ‘I Love My Park Day’ and work together on behalf of their state parks and historic sites.”
