Lupinacci Encourages Local Residents To Nominate WWII Veterans For Honor Flight Long Island

Assemblyman Chad Lupinacci (R,C,WF,I-Huntington Station) is encouraging local residents who know a WWII veteran to nominate him or her for Honor Flight Long Island.

"The men and women who make up the Greatest Generation have made a lasting impact on our nation,” said Lupinacci. “Sadly, we are losing our WWII veterans and the valuable lessons they have taught us about service, sacrifice and commitment. However, through programs like Honor Flight Long Island, we are able to say thank you to those who so valiantly served our country in its time of great need.”

Long Island is home to approximately 50,000 veterans. Unfortunately, we are losing our WWII veterans at a rate of 1,000 a day nationwide. Through the Honor Flight trip, the WWII veterans are recognized, admired and thanked for their service. They come home knowing how much their country loves and appreciates them.

“These trips are a special way to say thank you for the service of these valiant men and women. I hope everyone will join me in saying thank you to all our veterans and encouraging local WWII veterans to take advantage of these trips,” concluded Lupinacci.

Honor Flight, a non-profit organization created solely to honor America's veterans for all their sacrifices, flies our nation's heroes to Washington, DC to visit and reflect at the memorials. It is the intention of Honor Flight Long Island to honor as many of these selfless "ordinary people who saved the world" as we can, by providing them a FREE trip to visit their memorial.  For more information, or to nominate a veteran for a flight, please visit: http://honorflightlongisland.org/donations.asp.
