Identity Theft Seminar Helps Protect Residents From Growing Crime

Assemblyman Chad Lupinacci (R,C,WF,I-Huntington Station) and the Suffolk County Police Department’s Identity Theft Unit recently joined forces to help protect residents from identity theft. The Identity Theft Prevention Seminar was a chance for residents to learn helpful tips to keep their information safe from predators in both the real and virtual worlds.

“Unfortunately, there are those in the world who prey upon the unsuspecting, and identity theft has become the latest way for criminals to take advantage of those less prepared,” said Lupinacci. “Approximately 15 million US residents have their identities used fraudulently each year, with the financial impact reaching in to the billions of dollars. Thanks to helpful tips from Detective Peeker and the Suffolk County Police, residents will now be able to guard against becoming one of these statistics."
