Target Store to Open Oct. 9

Construction nearing completion on site of former Huntington Town House

The Target store on East Jericho Turnpike will open its doors to the public on Oct. 9.

Under construction for months on the site of the former Huntington Town House, the store will have its grand opening on Oct. 13.

Among the features of the store are a grocery  component and a pharmacy. Its closest neighbor is the CVS pharmacy next door at the intersection of New York Avenue and East Jericho Turnpike.

The company recently held job fairs to fill about 250 jobs to staff the store.

The Huntington Station store occupies about 150,000 square feet. Target announced its plan to build after Lowe's withdrew its plan in November 2011 to occupy the space.
