Source: Bonbori Restaurant to be Bought by Paramount Officials

Popular village restaurant closes doors Saturday.

Apparently, owners are close to closing a deal to acquire the quaint Bonbori restaurant on Elm St. — which is now closed.

"We are going out of business, today is our last day," said a manager to Patch Saturday. The employee wished to remain anonymous.

The acquisition of the Japanese and Thai restaurant by theater officials could add needed space for Paramount patrons and end the run of a Huntington mainstay which has been in business since the 1980s.

"The rumor has it that they are trying to convert it to some kind of tea house and an additional parking lot," said the Bonbori manager to Patch. "It hasn't been official yet, but it's 99 percent."

In 2008, Tiki Choladda took ownership of the Bonbori restaurant and expanded the menu to include traditional Thai cuisine. The lantern-lit garden courtyard is a perennially popular spot on warm evenings for locals and neighborhood visitors alike. 

Paramount officials were unavailable for comment Saturday.
