Question: What Should Go Here?

Vacant buildings can be seen in many areas of Huntington.

With the down economy and its effects on local business a hot topic this election season, Patch wants to know what you would do with some of the vacant lots and buildings throughout the town.

In the photo, a former car dealership sits empty on Oakwood Road in South Huntington.

Question: What do you think should go in this spot? Tell us in comments.

First they have to take down the political sign... I've heard that Atlantic Chevrolet is taking over the building.

But if he really wanted to make huge sums of money, he should have developers who have gotten sweetheart deals across Huntington contribute to his campaign. Just follow the Susan Berland Plan and the money will pour in!!!

Tear it down. Nothing needed right now. Already too much capacity

3 indoor artificial turf fields for lacrosse/soccer buit in a butler type building. There is a need for more fields for youth sports in our area. An indoor facility would allow for year round useage - clear plastic roof with the ability to open the walls of the facility during warmer months. The property is in a great location, easily accessible from all surrounding areas.

And where do you think that money is coming from Joseph. Sounds like a plan but the town has no money.
Joseph Pacifico October 19, 2011 at 04:56 PM
I agree, this is not a project for the town. We need private investors and a reasonable selling price from the current owner.

Obviously we know who the photographer is voting for ....

As the photographer, I stand behind the photo as both relevant to the question and to the tough issues facing the town and its representatives.

Indoor sports center. These kids have no teen centers to go to. They can't even go to the mall. Charge a reasonable fee, have basketball, ping pong, movie night.
