Owners Celebrate Diversity of Huntington Biz Crowd

Huntington chamber members gather for meet and greet.

Members of the Huntington Chamber of Commerce multicultural committee gathered Tuesday at Buoy One restaurant to introduce themselves and their businesses to others.

Marcelo Bonilla, financial services manager for People's United Bank in Dix Hills, said the meeting, which was open to all chamber members and others, Huntington businesses are increasingly owned by a diverse mix of people.

"This is a good chance for people to meet each other and a chance to see how the different groups approach business," Bonilla said. "We haven't seen as much of that in Huntington.

The full chamber will gather Wednesday to honor Robert M. Scheiner with its John Klaber Memorial Award.

Scheiner, senior vice president and chief marketing officer for H2M Architects & Engineers in Melville, will be recognized for his record of service and devotion to the community.

The event starts at 6 p.m. at the Cold Spring Harbor Museum.
