A new Italian restaurant is getting ready to open on Clinton Avenue.

Doppio Artisan Bistro has taken the space previously occupied by Twisted Vine and before that, XO Wine and Chocolate Bar before a fire forced it to move to Wall Street.

Tom Pescuma, a West Islip native who now lives in Huntington village, already has two restaurants in Greenwich and Stamford. He sees a need for what he has to offer in Huntington.

"The whole idea is we combine a brick oven pizza casual with full service fine dining menu," he said. "We'll have lunch with paninis, salads etc., but at dinner, we'll offer more extensive menus, with pastas, steaks"  and more, he said.

"We want to bring a New York City style brunch on weekends. There are a few restaurants but wat to focus on an all-day kind of service," he said. The restaurant plans to offer takeout and delivery service, as well.

The restaurant can seat about 50 people.

"All the food is fresh," he said. "The product kind of speaks for itself. It's had a lot of success in Greenwich."

Pescuma said there were still some details to work out but he hopes to open some time next week.
