'Meet the Media' Panel Scheduled

 The Huntington Township Chamber of Commerce’s annual “Meet the Media” Networking Breakfast is scheduled for Jan. 29 in Melville.

The media panel will consist of a group of journalists, reporters, correspondents and representatives from New York and Long Island’s most influential media outlets who will discuss a wide range of newsworthy topics and provide tips for those in attendance.  

Topics will include: most important stories of 2012, vital yet under-reported news during 2012, unusual stories that may have missed, the importance of social media on news reporting and the most effective social media platforms for reporters.

The event gets underway at 7:30 a.m., with the panel discussion at 8:30 a.m. at the Hilton Long Island/Huntington, located at 598 Broad Hollow Road in Melville.

The program offers attendees a chance to learn how to conduct a good media interview and how to “pitch” your story to the media.

A question and answer session will follow the discussion of these topics.

“Our ‘Meet the Media’ Networking Breakfast provides our Chamber members a unique opportunity to interact and discuss hot topics and learn effective tips from some of the most knowledgeable members of the New York media,” said Robert Bontempi, chairman of the Huntington Township Chamber of Commerce.
