Long Island Digital Summit Set Tuesday

National and local business leaders to share best practices around social media, mobile marketing.

Never mind heading to Manhattan for the latest in how businesses are embracing digital technology. You can discover best practices at the second annual Long Island Digital Summit at the Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury Tuesday from 8 a.m.-2 p.m.

Organized by Melville-based ad agency EGC Group, the event aims to spotlight the impact of social media, critical technology and skills, mobile marketing, content marketing and more.

Having traveled off-Island for digital conferences in the past, Nicole Larrauri, EGC’s managing partner, said it made sense to bring a “large-scale,” “full-spectrum” regional event that would include leaders from Facebook and Bing, that “you wouldn’t otherwise find on Long Island.”

Of course, you’ll find regional companies as well, including Carle Place-based 1-800-Flowers.com, Melville-based Canon, Farmingdale-based D’Addario and more. The full list of presenters, including details on the CEO roundtable luncheon on integrating digital marketing companywide, are posted on the Digital Summit website

Highlights this year include a session on digital’s impact on HR, including appropriate ways to improve employee communications on platforms such as Google Hangout and Google+. And, up for discussion is the financial return on investment of digital integration.

There will also be a panel on ways to leverage mobile marketing, given that 90 percent of consumers are using multiples screens, from laptops to cell phones, Larrauri noted.

The program is sure to bring lots of discussion and plenty of networking, said EGC’s Founder and President Ernie Canadeo.

Canadeo said he hoped the summit would “bring back a sense of community” to the region once found during the heyday of Port Washington-based Long Island Advertising Club, which is now defunct. What’s more, it would shine a light on digital expertise found locally.

“We’re putting Long Island back on the map again,” Canadeo said. “You don’t have to go off Long Island to get great marketing.”

Tickets are $95 in advance, $125 at the door, and include breakfast and lunch.
