The Kohl's store in Melville will close in April, the company confirmed Friday.

All employees have been offered jobs at other stores in the area, the company said; those not transferring to other stores will be offered severance packages.

A source said the closing of the store at 834A Walt Whitman Road is not part of a wider shutdown of other Kohl's sites.

"Kohl's customers can continue to find great values at six other area locations, or in any of the 50 Kohl's stores throughout the state of New York," the company said.

No information was immediately available on possible new tenants for the 92,000-square-foot store, the largest space in the Melville Mall, which also features a Dick's sporting goods store, Marshall's, All the Write Stuff and a Waldbaum's. It is managed by Federal Realty.

While I do prefer the Jericho store, this one is much closer

Was just there last night..But definitely the messiest, most disorganized Kohl's I've been in..I wonder why..??

I like shopping at kohls. Would love to see The Christmas Tree Shop go in there. Hate having to drive to Deer Park

There are still plenty of places to shop at WW Mall.
Turtle January 18, 2014 at 07:42 AM
Better bring a lot of cash or plastic when visiting the new WW Shops. Geared toward the Lloyd Harbor and Huntington Bay residents. Keeps out the bad element and rowdy teens, but also the middle class residents that live around it.

I liked the affordability of the clothing and sneakers. I would like to see Barnes & Noble there since they took the other one away that was at the Walt Whitman Mall.

I can see a Barnes and Noble moving in. I heard a rumor that Dicks might expand into that space to make it more like the Roosevelt Field store. That would be utterly ridiculous.

TSS..gone..Caldor..gone..Now Kohl's..Maybe that space is jinxed..

Just shopped there today. Going to miss it. So close. Wonder if new Target has had any impact.

Not surprised. The "Great Recession" is far from over. Would like to see something like a Home Goods go in there. New WW Mall is too expensive for me. I miss Fortunoffs.

I live less than a mile from the WW Mall and I hardly ever shop there. It's just too expensive, and even more so now since the renovations. The Kohl's in the Melville Mall was one of the few affordable stores in the area. Can't imagine what's going to replace it.

mall definitely has better goods and better deals, its a myth that iyou can get a better deal at marshalls because I have seen first hand that alot of the time you can get better deals at department stores
