When Lisa Lazzara held the grand opening for Wax Republic, a wax salon in Huntington Village, in the middle of a February blizzard earlier this year, it seemed reasonable to figure things could only get better.

That was a safe assumption.

Fast forward to April, and both the weather and Wax Republic have turned a corner. Not only is Wax Republic open for business, the company is already seeing repeat customers, according to Lazzara.

The company offers a full menu of face and body waxing services to both women and men. She decided to specialize in waxing after noticing a wide variance in the marketplace, especially with Brazilian waxing. Her emphasis is on positive customer experience.

“At many national franchises, often times the owner is not an esthetician and the experience can very much feel like a wax factory,” Lazzara added.

Lazzara makes a point of greeting customers at the door. Customers are either served by her or one of the estheticians she personally trained

Before opening her store, Lazzara said she worked in Manhattan spas and also spearheaded the U.S. launch of a European skincare line, as well as traveled the world learning cutting-edge beauty techniques in Europe and Asia.

Lazarra says her customer base runs the gamut, from “the 20-something crowd, to busy moms, to ladies in their 60's who have never been waxed before.”

If you go: Wax Republic is located at 249 Main Street in Huntington Village (just east of Route 110). Visit www.waxrepublic.com or call 631-470-9488 to schedule an appointment.
