75,000 Huntington Customers Without Power

LIPA identifies widespread outages around town.

More than 75,000 customers in the Town of Huntington are without power, the Long Island Power Authority said Wednesday.

The outages are widespread, with LIPA listing power losses in 18 parts of the town. The LIPA outage map said it

Crews from LIPA and other utilities were at work Wednesday morning. A large crew from Intren, in Union, Ill., used the parking lot at Whitman High School to organize and move out onto the roads.

A LIPA crew was busy Wednesday morning removing a transformer that had crashed onto a westbound lane on Jericho Turnpike in Elwood.

Many streets, though, continue to be blocked by trees that have fallen and pulled down electric wires in the process. Few of those fallen trees on side streets seem to have been tackled by work crews yet.

Please advise when Tanyard Land in Huntington will be restored. Also Lewis Court off crooked hill Road, Huntington Station. There are families with elderly - soon to need heat. The communication is so bad. After this I hope Lipa and the Town of Huntington will develop better communication to its residents.

All of Halesite and Huntington Bay is dark, yet the LIPA outage map shows scattered outages in the area. It's frustrating to know that nothing will ever change.

Day 6 without power in South Huntington. I've seen Intren crews around but no LIPA! Website gives no real information other than "assessing situation" which means nothing! Sick of being in the dark! And the cold! Thanks for nothing LIPA!

Day nine. The block north and south of me are all lit up. I am still in the dark. LIPA's outage map had changed giving you even less information. I am sure that they are working very hard and there is a reason why i am in the dark while my neighbors all have power but without any communication from LIPA i can really only assume the worst.
