5 Business Questions: Village Flowers

Patch goes into the street to check the pulse of the Huntington business community.

In our new weekly feature, Patch gets out into the business community to get a feel for the pulse of the business atmosphere in Huntington.

This week, we stopped in on  in Huntington Village as they were preparing for their annual Valentine's Day rush.

1. Why should people buy flowers from Village Flowers? Store owner Daniel Lim says after working in New York City for many years he brought his experience and knowledge to Huntington more than two years ago. Lim said he takes great care in helping customers get the best flower arrangement for their money. "I can make nice flowers for their budget," Lim said.

2. What's the best way to keep flowers fresh? "Change the water and cut the stems on the bottom about twice per week. It's like fresh air," said Lim. "If the water has some bacteria in it, it closes the stem so the flower can't get water. Also add some flower food."

3. What was the craziest flower delivery you've ever had? Missy Giusto, a sales associate and delivery driver at the flower shop for about four months said she got a proposal on a recent trip. "I missed the turn in Huntington Station about a month ago and went to turn around and these little boys chased after me and proposed to me. It was fun," she said with a smile. "They were maybe 10-years-old."

4. What is the most popular flower on Valetine's day? "We get some orders that vary but mostly it's classic red roses," said Giusto. Lim agreed.

5. What's the age range of your best Valentine's day customers? "I think it's the 40 to 50 age range," said Lim. "Because they are staying together and keeping the romance alive," suggested Giusto.
