 Celebrate the end of tax day with rockabilly music from popular East End group The Vendettas at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 15, in the Huntington Public Library's main auditorium. The band draws on the music of early performers such as Elvis, Carl Perkins and Johnny Cash as well as more recent revivalists such as The Blasters and the Stray Cats.  No registration is required.

DNA Day Scavenger Hunt – Saturday April 16 and Sunday April 17, 11 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Take your kids and grandkids on a self-guided scavenger hunt to discover the rich history of Cold Spring Harbor Village and its special connection to DNA. The hunt will guide you through village landmarks including The Whaling Museum, The Firehouse Museum, The Cold Spring Harbor Library and Environmental Center and Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory's Dolan DNA Learning Center (DNALC).

Poetry and Lilacs: A Children's Spring Workshop, Saturday April 16, 1:00 p.m.

  246 Old Walt Whitman Road, West Hills
Details:
  Inspired by Walt Whitman’s poem When Lilacs Last in the Dooryard Bloom’d, children 8 and up will be guided by published poet and experienced art instructor, Anne Kingsbury, as they use foam sheets to craft the front door of Whitman’s house--with a lilac bush next to it!  A variety of short poems with Spring themes written on colored paper will be attached to the lilac bush.  The result will have a loop for hanging.

   The fee includes all craft materials.  $9.75 admission per child/chaperones free.  A complimentary guided tour of the Walt Whitman Birthplace is available after the workshop. Reservations are required, as space is limited.
