Happy Friday! If you are searching for something fun to do this weekend, yet despise sitting in East End traffic or schlepping into the city, look no further — there are plenty of local live entertainment options right in our area. Click on the links below for more information on each listing. As always, if you have a live entertainment event you’d like to see posted, let us know! Here are a few to start your summer weekend off on the right ‘note’:


August 12

: Live music happy hour featuring Distant Twins, 4:30 p.m to 7:30 p.m.

: We're All Just Passing Through, Long Island folk-rock duet will bring their songs to Huntington for an outdoor performance from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Northport Arts Coalition: Happenings on Main Street presents “Director’s Choice” night at the Northport Village Park Patio, 7 p.m.

: “Music Corner” featuring dinner, dancing and jazz music from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Grasso’s: Tom Lellis Trio, vocal artist at 7:30 p.m.

: Don't miss the classic musical, "Hairspray," based on the 1988 film by John Waters. Showtime at 8 p.m.

: Arena Players Repertory Theater production of William Shakespeare's "Much Ado about Nothing," outdoor performance beginning at 8 p.m.

: Summer Festival presents Gandalf Murphy and the Slambovian Circus of Dreams. They’ve been called "the hillbilly Pink Floyd." Show begins at 8:30 p.m.

Karaoke Fridays with Dix Hills resident DJ Patty, from 9:30 p.m. to 1:30 a.m.

Peter Mazzeo and the Hit Squad at 10 p.m.

: Disco music and dancing 10 p.m.

: DJ starting at 11:30 p.m.

August 13


Cultural dance performances from many countries, an international fashion show, games, food, and chances to win prizes, at 300 Nassau Road (entrance on Woodhull Rd.). Runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.


: TD Bank Youth Theater Series production of P.D. Eastman’s “Go, Dog, Go!” at 11 a.m.

Vanderbilt Museum: Rudyard Kipling's "The Jungle Book" performed by The Arena Players Children's Theatre. Saturday and Sunday at 2 p.m.

: Don't miss the classic musical, "Hairspray," based on the 1988 film by John Waters. Showtimes at 3 p.m. and 8 p.m.

: Margaritaville Saturdays featuring Young Rebel Goombas, sounds of Key West, 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.

: The Lonesome Moonlight String Band will perform in St. John's Garden of Blessings at 4 p.m.

: Evening with Italian Singer Giada Valenti and Her Orchestra. Performance begins at 7:30 p.m.

Grasso’s: Ernie Byrd & Friends at 7:30 p.m.

: Summer Festival presents The Long Island Philharmonic, with music director David Stewart Wiley. Begins at 8:30 p.m.

: Disco music and dancing at 10 p.m.

: Six Gun Five at 10 p.m.

: Brett Sherris’ Summer Camp series continues with “Touch of Evil” and “Cape Fear” beginning at 11pm.

: Live music by Push at 11 p.m.

August 14

: TD Bank Youth Theater Series production of  P.D. Eastman’s “Go, Dog, Go!” at 10:30 a.m.

: Jazz Brunch from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Calypso Sundays Therapy Band, live reggae on the harbor, 4 p.m. to Sunset.

Grasso’s: Wayne Sabella and Company, jazz brunch trio at 12 p.m.

: “Suburban America: Problems & Promise.” Lunch at noon followed by film and discussion with filmmaker Ron Rudaitis at 1 p.m.

: Arena Players Repertory Theater production of William Shakespeare's "Much Ado about Nothing," outdoor performance beginning at 7 p.m.

: Closing night of the Summer Festival with Brother Joscephus and the Love Revival Revolution, a 12-piece “explosion of righteousness” that blends New Orleans party music, soul, roots rock and gospel. Begins at 8:30 p.m.
