Happy Friday! If you are searching for something fun to do this weekend, yet despise sitting in East End traffic or schlepping into the city, look no further — there are plenty of local live entertainment options right in our area. Click on the links below for more information on each listing. As always, if you have a live entertainment event you’d like to see posted, let us know! Here are a few to start your summer weekend off on the right ‘note’:

August 5

: Live music happy hour featuring Acoustifunk, 4:30 p.m to 7:30 p.m.

: Alex Torres and His Latin Orchestra return for "Spicy Sounds for a Hot Night.” Guests are invited to bring a picnic dinner to enjoy during the evening. Courtyard opens at 5 p.m. with dance instruction and performances from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Northport Arts Coalition: Happenings on Main Street presents folk and country singer/songwriters Frogs without Boundaries, Sandy/Steve Edwards, and Miss Trees at the Northport Village Park Patio, 7 p.m.

: Rockfest featuring local teen talent. Bands scheduled to perform include 49 and Counting, Anarchy 95, and New 2 U. Begins at 7 p.m.

: Celebrate “First Friday” with a performance by the Lonesome Moonlight String Band, from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

: “Let’s Rock it to End it” fundraiser featuring The Story Ave. Band, from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.

: “Music Corner” featuring dinner, dancing and jazz music from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Grasso’s: Jerry Welden Trio, tenor sax, piano, and bass at 7:30 p.m.

: Don't miss the classic musical, "Hairspray," based on the 1988 film by John Waters. Showtime at 8 p.m.

: Summer Festival presents Anderson & Roe, classical piano duo. Show begins at 8:30 p.m.

Live music at 10 p.m.

: Disco music and dancing 10 p.m.

: DJ starting at 11:30 p.m.

August 6

: TD Bank Youth Theater Series production of P.D. Eastman’s “Go, Dog, Go!” at 11 a.m.

Vanderbilt Museum: Rudyard Kipling's "The Jungle Book" performed by The Arena Players Children's Theatre. Saturday and Sunday at 2 p.m.

: Don't miss the classic musical, "Hairspray," based on the 1988 film by John Waters. Showtimes at 3 p.m. and 8 p.m.

The Long Island Violin Shop: Studio Series presents Rhina P. Espaillat reading from her most recent book, “Her Place in These Designs,” and the music of Christopher Morrongiello performing on lute.Open mic to follow. Starts at 5 p.m.

: Margaritaville Saturdays featuring Young Rebel Goombas, sounds of Key West, 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.

: “The Catskills in Dix Hills, Entertainment the Way It Used To Be,” featuring vocalist Lou Villano and comedian Maureen Langan. Performance begins at 7:30 p.m.


Grasso’s: Ernie Byrd & Friends at 7:30 p.m.

: Summer Festival presents Aztec Two-Step, folk-rock singer/songwriters. Co-presented by the Folk Music Society of Huntington. Begins at 8:30 p.m.

: Disco music and dancing at 10 p.m.

: Live music at 10 p.m.

: Brett Sherris’ Summer Camp series continues with “The Trouble with Harry” and “Murder by Death” beginning at 11pm.

: Live music at 11:30 p.m.

August 7

: TD Bank Youth Theater Series production of  P.D. Eastman’s “Go, Dog, Go!” at 10:30 a.m.

Grasso’s: Wayne Sabella and Company, jazz brunch trio at 12 p.m.

: Arena Players Repertory Theater production of William Shakespeare's "Much Ado about Nothing," outdoor performance beginning at 7 p.m.

: Summer Festival continues with Broadhollow Theatre’s “A Chorus Line.” Begins at 8:30 p.m.
