Happy Friday! If you are searching for something fun to do this weekend, yet despise sitting in East End traffic or schlepping into the city, look no further - there are plenty of local live entertainment options right in our area. Here are a few to start your summer weekend off on the right ‘note’:

Friday, July 8

Huntington Arts Council, Summer Festival Presents Theophilus London. An alternative rap artist from Brooklyn, London's genre-bending approach draws from a range of styles, from soul-pop and post-punk to electro and contemporary R&B. London made his album debut in 2009 with This Charming Man. Chapin Rainbow Stage at Heckscher Park. 8:30 p.m.

Live music by ‘Peter Mazzeo and the Hit Squad’, 10 p.m.

Saturday July 9

Heckscher Museum Of Art, Be Part Of The Art. Work with artist Thea Lanzisero and help create her next art installation that will be on view in the Museum's Earth Matters exhibition.  Visit the Museum during the exhibition July 30 through October 23, to see "your" work of art on view. Free Outdoor Activity.  Meet on the lawn in in front of the Museum. Ages 10 and up welcome.10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

Huntington Arts Council, Summer Festival Presents The play "Bye Bye Birdie" by Plaza Theatrical Production. The satiric Broadway hit about Conrad Birdie, rock 'n roll idol drafted into the army, and the effect on his teenage fans and their families in Sweet Apple, Ohio. The score includes “Put On a Happy Face,” “One Last Kiss” and “A Lot of Livin' To Do.” Chapin Rainbow Stage at Heckscher Park. 8:30 p.m.

, Summer Festival Presents The Nassau Pops Symphony Orchestra, Under the direction of Maestro Lou Panacciulli, the Nassau Pops Symphony Orchestra will perform musical favorites from Broadway, television and the movies, a program of popular and light classical music. Chapin Rainbow Stage at Heckscher Park. 8:30 p.m.
