Local Weekend Entertainment Guide


Happy Friday! If you are searching for something fun to do this weekend, yet despise sitting in East End traffic or schlepping into the city, look no further - there are plenty of local entertainment options right here in town. Here are a few that will take you right through Sunday evening:

Friday, June 24

  • Meehan’s Comedy Showcase featuring Paul Anthony, Joey Giarratano, Mick Thomas and Carie Karavas; 8:30 p.m. showtime, tickets $20 at LIcomedy.com or call (631) 351-0831.
  • Long Island Violin Shop ‘String Poet Studio Series’ welcoming pianist Cathy Callis for an evening of music and music-inspired poetry; Open Mic to follow. 7 p.m. Tickets $5 online at www.stringpoet.com, or $6 at door.

  • Huntington Arts Council Summer Festival Opening Night featuring Martha Washington, Grammy nominee for “It’s Raining Men,” Heckscher Park, free admission, 8:30 p.m.
