Sight and Sound at Cinema Arts

A fundraiser for Cinema Arts Centre features an exciting evening of live music and projected images.

The Cinema Arts Centre will be presenting a very different acoustic and visual concert experience on Friday at 8 pm when pianist Evelyn Ulex performs "Sight and Sound," a collaboration with artist Ade Frey, whose dramatic and inspiring paintings will be projected on screen during the performance.

Frey's fascination with the intangible quality of music inspired her to develop concepts about the relationship between music and art. She created her paintings while she listened to Ulex's highly expressive interpretations.

The program will consist of classical works highlighted by Modeste Mussorgsky's "Pictures at an Exhibition."  Mussorgsky produced his suite of 10 piano pieces to perpetuate the memory of his close friend and artist Victor Hartmann and was inspired by an exhibition of Hartmann's works, including sketches, watercolors and costume designs.

The Sight and Sound exhibition has been performed very successfully in many venues, such as the German Consulate General in New York City, the German Consulate in Vancouver and the Nikolai Hall in Potsdam, among others.

Ulex is going on tour soon with a unique program, and is bringing the event to the Sky Room Café as a preview of this tour with proceeds to benefit the Cinema.
