Long Island Ballet Sets 'Nutcracker' Performances

Huntington Town Board member Susan Berland to dance in Dec. 10 show.

The Long Island Ballet Theatre has announced two upcoming shows to celebrate its 25th annual production of "The Nutcracker." 

Scheduled performances at the Long Island High School for the Arts include Nov. 26 shows at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m., and Dec. 10 performances at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m.

For the third straight year, the productions will be directed by the company’s artistic director and choreographer, Christopher Fleming.

Huntington Town Board member Susan Berland will appear in the first scene of the first act of the Dec. 10 matinee performance as a guest at the Gala Christmas party at the Stahlbaum home.

Berland thanked company officials and performers for allowing her to dance in the show.

"The dancers are so incredibly talented and they welcomed me with open arms," said Berland in a release. "I encourage everyone to come see one of their four performances." 

Ballet company representatives said Berland will help bring attention to the organization.

"We are so honored to welcome Susan Berland to the cast for the December 10th performance,” said Long Island Ballet Company Executive Director Joan Albright.
