Lewis Black Coming to Westbury; Jazz Great at Tilles Center

Long Island Culture: April brings a host of cultural options to our area.

Famed comedian Lewis Black is coming to Westbury for two nights later this month as part of his 2013 tour.

The Grammy Award-winning standup comedian's "The Rant Is Due," arrives at  the NYCB Theatre at Westbury on Friday, April 26 and Saturday, April 27 at 8 p.m.

Trumpeter Chris Botti at Tilles Center:

The Jazz trumpeter and Tilles Center favorite has become among today's most popular figures in contemporary jazz. He performs Saturday, April 13, 2013 at 8 p.m. in the Concert Hall.

Cost: Tickets $77, $57 and $37.

Contemporary Artists at the Nassau Gallery

Nassau County Museum of Art’s Contemporary Gallery features the work Asad Faulwell and Chris Johanson, two young American artists working in very different styles. The exhibition is on view through June 16, 2013.

Cost: Admission is $10 for adults, $8 for seniors (62 and above) and $4 for students and children (4 to12). Members are admitted free.

Info: The museum in Roslyn Harbor just off Northern Boulevard is open Tuesday-Sunday, 11 a.m.-4:45 p.m. Docent-led tours of the exhibition are offered at 2 p.m. each day; tours of the mansion are offered each Saturday at 1 p.m.; meet in the lobby, no reservations needed. Tours are free with museum admission.

Doo Wop and the Dawn of Rock

Huntington’s Cinema Arts Centre presents 'Rock Legends Live!' Host Bill Shelley presents a celebration of the legendary singers who changed music forever. Among those featured in his film are Bill Haley and his Comets with “Rock Around the Clock,” Little Richard’s “Tutti Frutti,” Jerry Lee Lewis’ “Great Balls of Fire,” and Buddy Hollys “Peggy Sue.” Other featured performers range from Elvis to Dion and the Belmonts.

Cost: CAC Members $10 / Public $15. Includes reception.
