Lavaglio, who also plays a small role in the film, said most people just don't understand how serious gangs are.

"There was so many problems with gangs in my neighborhood," said Lavaglio, a sergeant with the state park police. "I wanted to touch upon how the gangs are involved in everyone's life."

Extra's for the film are all real-life police officers.
