High School Bands to Square Off at Park

Local high school musicians will square off Saturday at Heckscher Park in a “Battle of the Bands."

Ten bands and singers from high schools around the Town of Huntington will each play their best two songs. The event is organized by Huntington Youth Council.

The first, second and third place winners will receive $75, $50 and $25 gift cards to Murphy’s Music respectively.

The first place winner will also receive the opportunity to open for one of the nationally touring acts on the Paramount stage as a support band.

Special guest judges will include the Nick Tangorra Band (Nick, Rafe Tangorra and Will Ahrens) and Krystin Ubertini, assistant talent booker for the Paramount. The Nick Tangorra Band will also perform a special set.

The event is free, but the Youth Council will be accepting donations and raffling off prizes donated by local Huntington Village merchants.

The Huntington Youth Council was founded in 2003 by Councilwoman Susan A. Berland and is comprised of students from every public high school in the Town of Huntington.

They meet twice a month to discuss issues that affect the youth in our community and plan events that engage their peers in local issues.
