Schickel first started interviewing filmmaker Martin Scorsese in 2004. Schickel’s insightful questions and Scorsese’s growing comfort with his collaborator on this project over the subsequent years has resulted in a fascinating new book, Conversations with Scorsese, that will surely stand as one of the most illuminating works ever published about this brilliant American filmmaker.

Schickel will present a screening of a rare archival 35mm print of Taxi Driver, Scorsese’s iconic 1976 masterpiece about Travis Bickle (Robert DeNiro), an alienated cab driver caught in New York City’s maelstrom of sex and violence. Jodie Foster and Cybill Shepherd star as the teenage runaway prostitute and the chic political operative who become the focus of the obsession that propels Travis towards a shocking act of murder. (USA, 1976, 113 min., color, 35mm).
