Moving Pictures: 'Deceptive' Documentaries

"Deceptive" Documentaries: Exit Through the Gift Shop
Film, 7:30 - 9 p.m.
The movie is related to Identity Crisis, the current exhibit at the Heckscher Museum of Art, which runs through March 27 at the Heckscher.

This is the third of three movies related to the museum's Identity Crisis: Authenticity, Appropriation and Attribution exhibit. The screenings present films centering on the themes of fakes, forgery, and the tenuous line between truth and illusion in art and film.

This week, the critically acclaimed film "Exit Through the Gift Shop" questions what art is and who is worthy of creating it.  The documentary tells the story of French shopkeeper Thierry Guetta, who is always filming. Guetta meets Banksy, the most iconic and prolific street artist, and the camera is turned back on him as the film chronicles the friendship between the two men.
