Huntington's filmmakers have won a steady stream of awards around the metropolitan area in recent years. Some of the top videos have been posted on the school district's website at www.hufsd.edu/arts/art_videos.html.

Those seeing the student-produced videos for the first time are often surprised at the high quality nature of the work. It is often humorous and touching and usually edited to near perfection. The Huntington Foundation provided the high school video program with a boost this year by helping fund the acquisition of cutting edge equipment, including 20 new iMacs with Final Cut Studio 2 for video editing and digital effects, Adobe Suite CS 4 for graphic design and a new XServe to manage the student accounts and software.

Video teacher Heather Swan said her students are now able to work with multiple layers of video footage and a smooth work flow without lagging. "The students are working with the industry standard software and hardware," Mrs. Swan said. "This helps keep the students engaged in the classroom and competitive if they want to pursue a job in the industry."

The May 27 festival will showcase the "best-of-the-best" and Mrs. Swan and school officials are confident festival attendees will be impressed. The festival will include 90 minutes of student productions

"I am so excited to share this year's amazing videos with our community," Mrs. Swan said.
