HUFSD Districtwide Student Art Show

Ranging from painting, drawing, sculpture, ceramics and computer graphics to advertising, fashion design, photography and video arts, the 's annual art show has something to meet every taste.

The show is set for Tuesday and Wednesday, May 18-19 in the high school's Louis D. Giani Gymnasium. Admission is free and open to the public. The exhibit will feature outstanding artwork created by hundreds of Huntington students in every grade. The variety of work will touch all types of media and represent the extensive opportunities available to students in fine and computer-generated art studies.

On Tuesday, May 18, a special fashion show consisting of student designs will be held at 4 p.m. and again at 7 p.m. A video arts show will be featured at 3:30 p.m. and again at 6:30 p.m. Artwork of every possible type will be exhibited throughout the day from 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.

On Wednesday, May 19, the exhibits will be open to the public from 7:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Visitors are free to spend as much time viewing the show as they want on either day.

Many of the works on display will carry ribbons of excellence, designating the piece as one of "high merit," in the opinion of the adjudicators. "The community will be amazed at the talent of our students when they see the artwork on display," Huntington Superintendent John J. Finello said. "This year will be no different."

The fine reputation of the district's art program continues to grow. From state of the art course offerings to outstanding teachers and students, the program has it all. Huntington students are often the top winners in many of the local and regional art competitions and exhibits.

On Tuesday, May 18, residents voting on the budget and two trustee races can conveniently visit the art show either before or after casting their ballots. "Those visiting the show won't be disappointed," Mr. Finello said.
