Hard Luck Cafe at Cinema Arts

Singer-songwriters Lara Herscovitch and Josh Joffen will play at the Hard Luck Cafe at the Cinema Arts Centre from 8:30-10:30 p.m. Thursday, April 21. Open mic night starts at 7:30 p.m.

Herscovitch is a contemporary singer-songwriter from Connecticut whose music blends acoustic folk with pop, jazz, blues and Latin influences. She has performed on "A Prairie Home Companion" and in John Platt’s On Your Radar series at The Living Room, and at such notable Northeast venues as The Bitter End, Club Passim, Godfrey Daniels, Minstrel Coffeehouse, Acoustic Long Island, the Hard Luck Café and the Towne Crier.

Joffen is a Long Island-based singer-songwriter whose songs are, by turns, rousing, funny, poetic and insightful — blending modern and traditional folk and jazz influences in a rich palette of guitar voicings and open tunings.
