3 Named to Arts Council Board

Three new members were recently appointed to the board of directors of the Huntington Arts Council.

They are: Arlene Haims, Jason Eidinoff and Samuel Miller. 

  “Our three new board members bring strong energy and unique skills that further dimensionalize and complement the existing board of the Huntington Arts Council.  I look forward to working with them all." said Diana Cherryholmes, executive director of the Huntington Arts Council.

 Eidinoff is president of Financial Strategic Solutions Inc. in Huntington. He said, "I do hope to benefit the council with what expertise and knowledge that I carry along with myself. Hence, I am looking forward to make a major contribution in the growth of the Huntington Arts Council."

 Haims is sole proprietor of Haims Insurance Group, a full service insurance and financial firm based in Uniondale.  She has previously served on the boards of Long Island Women's Agenda, The Client's Center, Inc., Women Economic Developers of Long Island, Long Island Center for Business and Professional Women and recently finished her tenure as trustee for the Long Island Alzheimer's Foundation.  "I am very excited to be working as part of the Huntington Arts Council for the benefit of the wonderful arts programs on Long Island," she said. "I am especially excited to work alongside of Debbie Honorof, our new president, as I have worked with her on many occasions over the years.  I hope to bring my experience having sat on and developed several boards as well as my business contributions and community connections to the council."

Miller is senior analyst coordinator, homeless coordinator for the United Stated Interagency Council on Homeless (USICH) and a Huntington resident.  Miller said, “I am excited and enthusiastic about joining The Huntington Arts Council; that enriches the cultural quality of our community and society as a whole. I look forward to being able to be an advocate for the inclusiveness and the necessity for the arts in our lives and society.  Our society cannot and will not survive without the arts."

The Huntington Arts Council is celebrating  its 50th anniversary this year.  Events commemorating the anniversary will be held throughout the year, including a gala  Oct. 5 at the Paramount in Huntington.  Those wishing to receive an invitation should contact the council at 631-271-8423.

 The Council’s programs reach over one million Long Island residents, and it serves the entire region with its cultural events.

The Huntington Arts Council has been designated a "primary institution" by the New York State Council on the Arts, a title meaning "vital to the cultural life of New York State.” The council is the official arts coordinating agency for the Town of Huntington, and serves as the primary regranting agency on Long Island for the New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA).

 in addition to its services to over 600 member cultural organizations and individual artist members. Programs are made possible in part by funding from the New York State Council on the Arts, the Town of Huntington, the Suffolk County Department of Cultural Affairs, JPMorgan Chase, corporations, foundations and individuals.
