It was a little damp outside , but inside the firehouse things got pretty hot at the first Greenlawn Fire Department Chili Cook-off in June. Hosted by the Greenlawn Fire Department and United Cerebral Palsy Association of Suffolk County, the event featured 21 entries from fire departments and restaurants in the area, a raffle, DJ food and drinks.

: The Friends of the Huntington Station Latin Quarter staged a December peace march in Huntington Station following an incident at the Lincoln Farm Apartments where three were wounded while seated in a car in the parking lot of the complex.

To Sarah Ferguson: Who's Your Favorite Beatle?: Duchess of York Sarah Ferguson was in Huntington Tuesday to sign her new memoir. Arriving just prior to 7 p.m. at the , Ferguson was met by hundreds of mostly female fans waiting in line inside for their chance to meet the Duchess and get a signed copy of her new book, "Finding Sarah."

As temperatures soared into the mid-90's in early-June, many people in Huntington were out and about downtown finding ways to keep cool. Most welcomed the warm weather after the long winter season.

: Other than shaking some nerves, the earthquake which struck much of the East Coast today caused no real damage in Huntington in August.

: The only concert in the world staged on top of a working lighthouse in the middle of the water, bands of all musical genres performed live to a hundreds of spectators enjoying the show from a sea full of boats moored in the harbor Sept. 5.

: Hundreds turned out to Heckscher Park  to honor 43 Huntington residents who lost their lives in the attacks on the World Trade Center on the 10th anniversary of Sept. 11 incident.

While describing the reasons for his yes vote regarding the AvalonBay zoning request, Huntington Town Supervisor Frank Petrone ordered security to remove Anthony Caruso from Town Hall for disrupting the proceedings, just as board members gave final opinions regarding the zoning vote on the Huntington Station project June 8.

: Patch went in the patch in search of the perfect pumpkin at the Elwood Pumpkin Farm on Jericho Turnpike.

You've got to have art. That was the word at  Oct. 12 from a large group of Huntington arts supporters who broke out in song and dance and gave numerous speeches at a public hearing to rail against proposed  to Huntington arts programs by the Town Board.
