Wine Tasting and Civil War Lecture

5 things you need to know for May 19.

1. The Huntington Historical Society's spring lecture series: “Guns of Glory in the Civil War: What Determined the Destiny of America,” a lecture by Cass Baker at the, 228 Main St., Huntington, at 1:30 p.m. Price: $5 for non-members. For reservations, call 631-427-7045, ext 403. 

2. Mellville Lions Wine and Food Gala at , 135 W Gate Dr., Huntington. Event runs from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Indulge in the culinary creations of some of Long Island's finest chefs as wineries, brewers and importers. Wine auction starts at 8:30 p.m. and closes at 10 p.m. Tickets cost $95 per person and are available through the Lions web site or from club members, until the day of the event; a table for 10 is $1,200.

3. Kim Farino book signing:  Local author will speak about and sign her new book, "Thank God for Another Day!" at the , 313 New York Ave., Huntington, at 7 p.m.

4. A free showing: The offers "The King's Speech" at 1 p.m. today, part of a continuing series of free movie screenings.

5. Dodgeball Tournament at Huntington High School, 188 Oakwood Rd. from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Interested students can play dodgeball to benefit the French Honor Society's scholarship fund. Teams of 6 players, $3 per person. Sign up with Mrs. Mayer in Room 224.
