Sept. 11 Commemorations Set

Several events Wednesday will mark the 12th anniversary of the Sept.11 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.

The Huntington Manor Fire Department plans two services. The first service will be held at fire headquarters starting at 8:30 a.m. and will last until about 10:28 a.m.,  the time the second tower fell. A candlelight vigil will be held at 7:30 p.m. at Peter Nelson Park on Oakwood Road, honoring a department fire chief and a member of F.D.N.Y. Rescue Company #4 who died in the attacks.

Huntington officials will remember the lost at a ceremony at 11:30 a.m. at the memorial in Heckscher Park.

St. Patrick's Church will offer a special mass Wednesday evening.

The 7:30 p.m. mass will make special note of the 32 people who were members or had connections to the parish.

Local first responders, police officers, fire fighters and rescue personnel are especially welcome, the church said.
