Question of the Day: Island Hunger?

Has the problem of hunger gotten better or worse on Long Island in 30 years since Harry Chapin's death? Why?

According Paule Pachter, the executive director of Long Island Cares — the Harry Chapin Food Bank, there are 320,000 Long Islanders who are hungry and food insecure each day.

Founded in 1980 by singer and activist Harry Chapin of Huntington, LIC provides nutritional food and support services for a network of more than 540 community-based member agencies including food pantries, soup kitchens, emergency shelters, child care programs, disability organizations and veterans services, according to the company's website.
