Question of the Day: American Values

Have Americans become more selfish in the last 50 years?

"My fellow Americans: Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country," said Pres. John Kennedy during his inauguration speech on Jan. 20, 1961.

Is Kennedy's challenge more alive today or less? How would you compare Americans of today to those of a half-century ago in terms of asking of their country? Would you agree that Americans of today are asking more of their country then at any other time in history? Why or why not? Is this good for the U.S.?

Is there a generation of Americans that asked least of their government but gave the most. Which one is it? If so, why is it changing?
