The lure of the emerging gay-wedding market brought several leaders together at  Friday. Last week’s passage of the  granting same-sex couples the right to wed has sent many Long Island businesses on a quest to persuade gay couples to marry on Long Island.

After nearly four decades with Huntington schools, outgoing Huntington School Superintendent John Finello has been named interim superintendent in East Islip. The new job was apparently being lined up in East Islip for the 2011-12 school year as the 10-year Huntington school superintendent was saying his good-byes last week.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo traveled to Lynbrook to sign a bill Thursday authorizing a property tax cap in New York. Assemblyman Brian Curran, R-Lynbrook, and Lynbrook Mayor Bill Hendrick were on hand for the signing at the home of village residents James and Janet Gannon.

The new same-sex marriage law could prove a windfall to local businesses as gay couples from around the country tie the knot in New York. Huntington businesses as diverse as  and Wylde Stylde hair salon are considering the impact of the Marriage Equality Act passed last week, which by some estimates could generate as much as $400 million from thousands of couples turning New York into a wedding destination.

Hundreds of women lined the street around the  Tuesday patiently waiting for an audience with a royal — some standing in line as early as 9 a.m. By 7 p.m. Duchess of York Sarah Ferguson strolled into the book store in a long white coat over a dark brown low cut dress with a head of copper curls cascadading around her shoulders. The crowd erupted into applause as she flashed her trademark smile and gave a royal wave to the adoring people inside.

Same fee, big changes on the way. That's the story coming from the town clerk's office in  Tuesday as preparations are underway to handle fallout from last week's historic vote which granted same-sex couples the right to marry legally in New York.

Helping to alleviate possible cuts in services and jobs, the Suffolk County Legislature has agreed to restore an additional $165,000 in state imposed funding cuts to the Dolan Family Health Center.
