Oct. 23: Whitman Charity; Be A Conklin

5 things you need to know today.

1. Whitman Golf Fundraiser: Help save Whitman High School golf and bowling teams. Enjoy a golf and mini golf fundraising tournament on Sunday from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.

2. Government Reports Breakfast: It will be a full house as state and local officials address community concerns and provide an update on government activities at this year’s annual “Government Reports Breakfast,” sponsored by the Huntington Township Chamber of Commerce at the Crest Hollow Country Club. Begins at 7:30 a.m.

3. Halloween Howler Costume Party at Heckscher Museum: Ghoulish drinks and treats, silent horror films, prizes for top costumes and Halloween fun. Starts at 9 p.m.

4. Huntington Public Library Presents "Social Security": The plot of the play features a married couple, both art dealers, who have their domestic tranquility shattered by the arrival of the wife's goody-goody nerd of a sister, her uptight CPA husband, and a Jewish Mother who threatens to move into their fancy East Side apartment for an extended stay. Free. Open to all. No registration required.  

5. Be A Conklin: The Huntington Historical Society is offering children ages 7 to twelve an opportunity to come to the historical Conklin Barn and House Museum and spend an exciting morning experiencing life as a colonial child. The adventure begins in the barn working on a craft, dressing-up in colonial clothes, spinning wool, playing with colonial toys and churning butter which will be served on delicious corn bread befor a complete tour of the house is given. Begins at 9 a.m.
